Editor's Verdict:

Bluemountain.com is a greeting card site with a great range of ecards and printable cards to suit all occasions. You can personalize, upload pictures, add text and edit cards, then send by email or print and send, the choice is yours.

The site looks very pretty, like a home-made greeting card. Down the left-hand side of the homepage you'll see a number of tabs corresponding to greeting card categories arranged by theme and occasion. There are 7 principal categories (e.g. 'birthday', 'everyday' and 'special occasions') so it's relatively easy to find and browse the cards you want. To narrow your browsing, there are tabs within each principal category too (e.g. 'for her', 'for him', 'funny' and talking ecards'). If you're looking for something specific, there's a site search engine that you can also use. As ecard sites go, this is one of the best; the designs are original and professional-looking, the animation is slickly done and even the music is tasteful and doesn't overpower (the music accompanying ecards on the free sites can be truly abominable). If you do send, or would consider sending ecards, you'll be surprised by what you'll find here. Moreover, because of the range of cards available you shouldn't be stuck for choice. You don't have to sign up to view an ecard; you can just browse and watch a preview. If you're impressed then you just need to go through the registration process and select your membership tenure. It's worth splashing out on the 2 year deal for $29.99, which offers great value for money. You'll also get a 7-day free trial and you can cancel if not satisfied.

There's also the possibility of using the site's create and print service. This isn't available on a standard membership, so you'll have to pay a little extra ($19.99 per year). What you get is a selection of hundreds of printable cards that you can personalize when you select one. This opens up the card editor. Whilst it's not tricky to use, at first glance you might feel a little puzzled. Other sites usually offer prompts or go through the design process in a number of discrete steps. Here, you won't find prompts or steps, but by having a play with the card editor it won't take you long to learn how to make your own personalized card, including being able to add images that you upload. Again, the card designs are generally very good and you'll find a card for almost any occasion. Another nice thing is that you don't have to buy in bulk, which, I imagine will suit most people reading this review. In terms of card quality, it will depend, as you'll most likely print cards at home or at a print store. Is it worth signing up for this option? Maybe, but it may be better just to stick with the ecard option and purchase printed cards from another site in this category, as you can get them stuffed, stamped and mailed as part of the service, which is not something offered here. However, if you do decide to go for the create and print membership, you get a 14-day no obligation trial, which gives you plenty of time to judge its worth. You might even go for the bundle membership, however, don't expect to get a discount for signing up to both.

On terms of other features, when you sign up you get an account wherein you can organize and manage everything to do with your cards. For example, you get an address book feature to store recipient details, a reminder service so that you don't forget a birthday or special occasion, a place to store your photo attachments and uploads, as well as a future send option. If you want to explore futher, you'll find a decent FAQs section on the site that can help with all manner of technical and membership questions, plus reliable email and telephone customer support. You can even join by phone if you like.

In summary, Bluemountain.com offers tremendous scope for creating your own ecard and printable greeting card designs at a reasonable price, giving you unlimited use. Coupled with the handy account manager, you'll find that all your card needs can be catered for in one neat package of a site.
